TYPE OF INFORMATION COLLECTION
Personal information collected by EPay generally comprises name, address, date of birth, gender, occupation, account details, contact details (including telephone and e-mail), financial and other relevant information as required by the Laws in Malawi. It also collects information regarding National ID, Passport numbers and signatures.
PURPOSE OF COLLECTION AND USAGE OF INFORMATION
EPay requires this information to understand the financial needs of its customers and to provide them better service, in particular for the following reasons:
- To conduct mobile money operations and for internal record keeping
- To open and administer customer accounts and protect their records and funds
- To design or improve products and services for customer benefit
- To comply with laws, guidelines, and regulations governing financial services in Malawi
- To contact its customers in relation to its mobile money business and products
RETENTION OF INFORMATION
Where the information that EPay holds is identified as no longer needed for any purpose, EPay ensures that it is effectively and securely destroyed, in both physical and electronic form.
PERSONAL INFORMATION QUALITY
EPay aims to maintain accurate, correct, and complete customer information. Procedures, including those required by the Reserve Bank of Malawi, are in place to keep records up to date. Customers who believe their information is incorrect should contact the nearest EPay Customer Service Centre or the EPay Call Centre to update their profile. EPay promptly corrects any erroneous information.
INFORMATION SECURITY PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES
EPay is committed to securing customer information. To prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, EPay uses physical, electronic, and managerial safeguards. These are based on international information security frameworks and are reviewed regularly through internal and external audits.
DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION
EPay does not release customer information except as directed by law or with customer authorization. Information may only be shared if:
- It helps complete a customer-initiated transaction
- The customer has authorized it
- The law requires or directs disclosure, or the customer has been informed of such disclosure and given the option to decline
